BREAKFAST/BRUNCH THAT WILL MAKE YOU DANCE!

Try this fun version of French toast! Adding the orange liqueur gives this toast a wonderful flavor. My favorite part about French toast is creating multiple different layers of flavor in one bite. By adding granola, berries and maple syrup, this dish will take you for a ride.

KEY ITEMS FOR SUCCESS

  • Grand-gala or any orange Liqueur– Much like bourbon, gives dishes a full flavor. The orange liqueur gives this French Toast it delicious flavor.
  • Butter– Butter helps the toast brown beautifully, it also gives the French Toast a rich flavor.
  • Granola– I love adding granola to the top of my French Toast. It adds a layer of crunch.
  • Warm Maple Syrup– Warm your syrup before you drizzle it on your French Toast makes all the difference. It’s important everything is eaten at the same temperature.
Adding warm Maple Syrup is KEY!

STEPS TO MAKING THE BEST FRENCH TOAST

  1. In a medium sized bowl add milk eggs, grand-gala or orange liqueur, sugar, Cinnamon and salt. Use a wire whisk to mix this together.
  2. Dip one piece at a time of the brioche into the mixture for about 30 seconds, set aside on a rack with a plate or towels underneath. Let The bread sit for 1 to 2 minutes before cooking.
  3. Heat your skillet or griddle to medium heat, add 1 tablespoon of butter.
  4. Once the butter is melted, add 2-3 slices of French toast. Cook until golden brown on each side.
  5. Repeat step 3 & 4 until all of your toast is cooked.
  6. You can place your cooked French toast into a warm oven (300F) the so they do not lose heat while you’re finishing the rest of your toast.
  7. For whipped topping. In a medium mixing bowl add your whipping cream, sugar and vanilla.
  8. Use an immersion blender or hand mixer to mix this until fluffy peaks appear.
  9. I love to add maple syrup, granola, or fresh fruit to the top of this brioche French toast!
There is no such thing as too much Syrup!

TIPS FOR SUCCESS

  • Wipe your skillet or griddle between batches of French toast. This will help remove any leftover sugars from previous batches. It will help keep all the French toast tasting like a fresh batch!
  • Use butter to cook your French Toast. It will give you the rich flavor you are looking for.
  • Make sure you are cooking on medium heat. Since you are using butter, the smoke point is lower than using other oils. You also want to make sure that the inside of the toast is cooked, so low and slow is perfect.

Just looking at this photo I feel like licking the ‘screen’, but no, I won’t.
I had these over the Easter Weekend and they were incredibly good. French Toast is one of my all time favorites, and the hint of orange liqueur took it over the top for me!
