MAKING THIS TRUFFLE PASTA IS EASY AS 1,2,3..!

The simplicity of this dish is really what makes it so attractive. This truffle pasta comes with a lot of flavor in the end. You can eat it with a protein or without and you feel just as satisfied. Of course I would love to get my hands on real truffles as often as I can, but this truffle oil is a great substitute. You don’t have to be a professional in the kitchen to achieve a rich and delicious meal full of flavor.

6 INGREDIENTS FOR YOUR TRUFFLE PASTA

  • Butter; Unsalted if you have it.
  • Cream; Heavy cream is key. Half and half is second best.
  • Parmesan Cheese; Fresh grated melts great in the sauce.
  • Truff Oil; I love Truff brand, but any will work. A little goes a long way!
  • Pasta; I used spaghetti noodles, but any shape will work for this dish.
  • Fresh Cracked Pepper; Perfect for the finishing touches.

WHAT DOES TRUFFLE TASTE LIKE

  • It is a LOVE IT or HATE IT situation in most cases. More than likely you are going to LOVE it.
  • If you are a lover of truffle oil the taste is going to be like a mixture of chocolatey, nutty and earthy flavors.
  • Many restaurants you visit may have a truffle item on the menu like truffle fries. If you are unsure about it, just take a chance one day. You probably will LOVE IT!

FRESH TRUFFLE VS. TRUFFLE OIL

A fresh truffle is a type of fungi that is found on the roots of trees. It’s not like the common mushroom because it grows entirely underground. Truffle forgers will use dogs to help them locate truffles underground. Truffle oil is made from infusing olive oil with truffles. Remember truffle oil is much more powerful than a fresh truffle itself. Take care when using truffle oil because you only need to use a little bit of it. A little bit of truffle oil goes a long way!

EASY STEPS TO TRUFFLE PASTA

  1. Cook pasta in a large stock pot. Set- aside.
  2. In a large skillet on medium heat melt butter
  3. Once the butter is melted add in heavy cream.
  4. Whisk the cream and butter mixture until your sauce has thickened.
  5. Once your sauce has thickened, add pasta to sauce and mix well.
  6. Turn off heat and add parmesan, truffle oil and pepper!
  7. It’s that EASY!  Enjoy

TIPS FOR SUCCESS

  • Make your pasta first. This dish cooks quickly, so you want to make sure that everything is ready to go into the sauce once it has thickened.
  • Once tight bubbles appear around the edge of the skillet, your sauce is ready.
  • Try not to over cook your pasta. Try to cook it to al dente’ so it has a little bit to it.
  • Use quality products on this dish. Try to get a pasta with high durum wheat. I like to use DeCecco spaghetti pasta.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT TRUFFLE

How much do truffles cost?

Depending on your variety of truffle the price can run between $6 per ounce or $10 per ounce. They may be even higher depending on the quality of the truffle.
Truffles are so expensive because they are extremely hard to find. They are also nearly impossible to grow and hard to store for a long period of time.
