Easy cinnamon sugar croissant bites are 100% kid approved! They are the perfect little bite with sweetness and buttery flavor that you love. It is hard to keep these bites around!
My nephews and my sons love these little cinnamon sugar croissant bites. They were so excited every time I said we were going to make them on their vacation. There would be six of them waiting for me to finish one batch.
Why you going to love this sweet treat
- Easy- It only takes a few steps to execute this recipe
- Tasty- it’s hard to resist cinnamon, sugar on a perfectly fried little square of croissant.
- Few ingredients- This recipe only takes six ingredients to prepare.
- Kid friendly- The kids can do most of the work in this recipe.
Ingredients for Cinnamon Sugar Croissant Bites
- Pillsbury crescent rolls; buttery crescent rolls are key. The flaky layers help them fry up nicely.
- Butter; unsalted. Better helps keep the cinnamon and sugar attached to the croissant bite.
- Cinnamon
- Sugar; granulated white sugar or you can use brown sugar.
- Prepared vanilla frosting; You could use any flavor of frosting you like. I just like vanilla. I think it goes well with cinnamon and sugar.
- Canola oil; This is my favorite type of oil to fry these up with. They get a nice golden brown color. Vegetable oil would work as well.
How to make Croissant Bites
- In a stock pot or Dutch oven heat canola oil to 365° F.
- On a cutting board, unpackage and roll out half the roll of croissant.
- Use a rolling pin to get rid of the seams in the croissants.
- Take a sharp knife and cut the croissant sheet into half inch squares.
- Check the temperature of your oil and once it is at 365° F drop four or five croissant squares into the stock pot.
- The squares will float to the top as they start to fry. Using a slotted spoon or a mesh strainer, continue flipping the squares so that they brown evenly on both sides while they’re cooking.
- Once they are nice golden brown, using a slotted spoon, remove them from the oil, shake off excess and place them on a paper towel to drain.
- With melted butter in a medium sized bowl, add cooked bites. Toss until fully coated.
- Next sprinkle cinnamon and sugar mixture all over the croissant bites.
- Heat in a medium sized microwave. Safe bowl heat pre packaged frosting for 30 seconds to 1 minute until melted.
- Take a spoon and drizzle over the tops of your cinnamon sugar croissant bites.
- Serve and enjoy!
Tips for success
- Check the temperature of your oil before frying. Measure with a candy thermometer to endure it reached 365F.
- Do a test batch of bites to make sure that the oil is perfectly hot.
Other ways to prepare
Bake; set your oven to 375° F. Prepare croissant squares as described above. Finish by dipping in butter, cinnamon sugar and dress with frosting.
Air fry; Place croissant squares into the air fry basket. Air fry to 300° F. Do not preheat. Air fry for 4 to 5minutes or until golden brown. Finish as described above by dipping in butter, cinnamon, sugar and dress with frosting.
How to store Cinnamon Sugar Bites
Store your cooked cinnamon and sugar croissant bites in a Ziploc bag, in a cool place. They will stay fresh for about 3 days.
What other types of dough can I use?
Biscuit; I have tried this recipe with biscuits dough. I would recommend using butter flake biscuits. The end result will come out denser and not as light as buttery croissants, but they are delicious.
How can I get kids involved in this easy recipe?
- Rolling out the croissant dough.
- Using a rolling pin to get rid of the seams in the croissant dough.
- Use a butter knife to cut croissant squares.
- Dipping squares into butter.
- Sprinkling sugar and cinnamon on top of bites.
- Adding frosting to the tops of finished cinnamon sugar bites.
