Salted Caramel Pecan Turtles with Bacon

I love the classic Turtle candy coated in chocolate and filled with caramel and pecans. This recipe is a simple twist on the classic Turtle Candy recipe. I’ve added salted caramel and bacon to give you a bite pack with flavor. These are simple to construct and they go down just as easy. Here's your next party dessert. So simple, yet so satisfying! Checking all the boxes! Sweet, Salty & Savory

Equipment

  • Large sheet pan
  • Parchment paper
  • Small saucepan
  • Medium-sized bowl

Ingredients

  • 1 10 oz. bag of whole Pecans
  • 1 11 oz. bag Caramel Bits
  • 1 c. Water
  • ¼ c. Milk
  • 4 slices Bacon cooked and chopped
  • 1 Bag Chocolate melts for drizzle
  • Flake Sea Salt for garnish

Instructions

  • Add water to your small saucepan. Place your medium sized bowl over the top of your saucepan creating a double boiler. Turn your heat to medium low to bring the water to a simmer.
  • Add your caramel bits to the medium sized bowl and two tablespoons of milk. Once your caramel starts to melt, slowly stir. Add two more tablespoons of milk at a time. Until your caramel is completely melted.
  • While you're melting your caramel, lay your parchment paper on your sheet pan.
  • Place three pecans together.
  • Using a spoon drizzle caramel over the middle of the pecans so that it creates a cluster.
  • While the caramel is still warm, place a piece of bacon on top.
  • Follow the directions on your chocolate melts bag to slowly heat your chocolate. Once your chocolate is melted, place it into a piping bag or zip lock bag with the edge cut.
  • Drizzle the chocolate over the tops of each turtle. Sprinkle a little bit of flake sea salt on each one.
  • Place your chocolate turtles into the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes.
  • Remove them from the refrigerator when you're ready to serve. Enjoy!

Notes

Chocolate turtles can last 2-3 weeks in an airtight container.
When storing your turtles separate each layer with a piece of parchment paper so they don't stick together.
This recipe is very quick to put together and is a perfect way to get your kids involved.
